Hurricane Milton: Impact on Key Florida Ports

Update #2: 11 October 2024

As Hurricane Milton moves away from Florida, we are closely monitoring conditions and providing updates on key port operations. Below is the latest status for impacted areas:

  • Port of Jacksonville:
    • Friday, October 11: The port remains closed under USCG condition ZULU. Vessel and terminal operations are tentatively scheduled to reopen pending USCG inspection and clearance.
  • Port of Port Everglades:
    • Marine operations: Cleared for operations and fully reopened.
    • Gate operations: Operating as normal.
  • Port of Miami:
    • Gate operations: Fully operational, with normal gate activities resumed.

With Hurricane Milton approaching Florida’s west coast, we are sharing a summary of expected impacts on key ports. Miami is currently under a Tropical Storm Warning and Flood Watch, with landfall anticipated late Wednesday into early Thursday. Please be aware that schedules and operations may adjust as the situation develops.

Port Impacts

  • Port of Jacksonville: Open until 17:00 on October 8. Closed October 9-10 under USCG ZULU. Tentative reopening October 11, pending clearance.
  • Port of Port Everglades: Marine operations suspended October 8-9. Gate operations are available for outbound cargo only on October 8 and both inbound/outbound on October 9. Vehicle Gate is open with limited hours.
  • Port of Miami: Operating under USCG Yankee condition, with outbound cargo only.
  • Other Ports:
    • Closed: Tampa Bay, Manatee, Key West, Fort Myers, St. Petersburg.
    • Open with restrictions: Fort Pierce, Miami, Canaveral, Fernandina, Jacksonville, Panama City.

OIA Miami Branch Update: For the safety and well-being of our team, employees at the Miami branch will be working remotely from home starting at noon on Wednesday, October 9. The warehouse will be closing at that time and is expected to reopen on Friday, October 11.
