Continuous, heavy rains in the Rio Grande do Sul region have caused extreme flooding throughout southern Brazil. The flood water has not retreated from Porto Alegre’s critical areas, and more than half a million people have already been displaced from their homes.

Unfortunately, weather forecasts expect the region to continue receiving even more rain in the coming weeks. Expect the poor weather conditions to cause regular delays in supply chain operations due to closed roads, collapsed bridges, landslides, and other disruptions. In particular, freight trucks are struggling to transport cargo to and from the region’s ports.
