History

OIA Global is headquartered in Portland, Oregon, USA, where it was founded in 1988, but maintains an expansive network across 25+ countries, with 1,100+ employees in 50+ offices. OIA is privately owned by LDI, Ltd., a family office with more than a century of experience funding and operating high-potential, middle-market companies.

Acquisition: Airmark Ocean & Air Logistics

Airmark Ocean & Air Logistics added specialized knowledge in aviation, healthcare, and industrial logistics, further expanding OIA's service portfolio.

Acquisition: BTi Logistics

BTi Logistics strengthened OIA Global’s capabilities in automotive & mobility, energy, and industrial markets with the company's expertise in warehousing, distribution, and end-to-end supply chain management.

Acquisition: Sandford Freight Ireland

OIA Global acquired Sandford Freight, expanding the company's European network into Ireland. Established in 1979 and based in Dublin, Sandford's integration with OIA unites two organizations with the shared value of delivering peace of mind to customers.

Note: this acquisition pertains exclusively to Sandford Freight Ireland Ltd and not Sandford Freight UK Limited.

2023

New Office: Busan, Korea

Busan is an optimal city for OIA's operations as it provides a strategic location and strong collaborative potential. OIA Korea handles freight forwarding, client management, route planning, and many other typical branch duties.

2017

Acquisition: American Cargo Express (ACE)

OIA acquired American Cargo Express, expanded its presence into Toronto, Canada, as well as the key domestic markets of Boston, Charlotte, and Dallas, while strengthening existing positions in other key markets.

2014

New Office: São Paulo, Brazil

OIA added Bellville Rodair International office in São Paulo, Brazil.

2013

Acquisition: U.S. Worldwide Logistics Inc.

OIA acquired U.S. Worldwide Logistics Inc. (USWWL), a Kentucky-based provider of domestic and international freight forwarding and warehousing and distribution services.

2013

Acquisition: Bellville International Rodair

OIA acquired Bellville International (BRI), expanding its network by 22 offices serving 14 additional countries.

New Office: Tokyo, Japan

2013

Acquisition: PACCESS LLC

OIA assumed the majority of assets and liabilities for PACCESS LLC'S Materials Sourcing Division, headquartered in Portland, Oregon.

2012

Acquisition: International Transportation Services

OIA expanded into the strategic Northeast Ohio market when it acquired International Transportation Services (ITS), a premier forwarding and transportation company.

2011

New Offices: Zurich & Qingdao

OIA launched a new domestic service OIA Expedite. To better communicate the services and benefits of the ever evolving OIA, the company shortened its name from OIA Global Logistics to OIA Global, and adds the tagline, “Logistics Solutions, Creatively Packaged,” which represents offerings of forwarding, supply chain optimization and creative packaging.

2010

LDI Ltd., Acquired Majority Control of OIA Global

LDI Ltd., LLC, a private holding company in Indianapolis with interests in distribution and logistics, recapitalized and acquired majority control of OIA Global Logistics.

2008

Company's 20th Anniversary & Expansion

OIA celebrated its 20th Anniversary, expanded its presence in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, launched a footwear distribution operation in Portland, Oregon, and opened an office in Atlanta, GA.

2007

New Office: Bangkok, Thailand

2006

New Location: Columbus Distribution Facility

OIA launched a distribution facility in Columbus, OH, a centrally-located, key freight gateway in the United States.

2005

Launched "Creative Packaging Solutions"

OIA launched the Creative Packaging Solutions (CPS) team to provide supply-chain optimization and cost savings through packaging redesign, sourcing, and management.

2002

New Office: Penang, Malaysia

2001

Acquisition: PSD International & Pacific Shipping Distribution

OIA acquired the operations of PSD International, Inc. (an international freight forwarder based in Los Angeles), Westrans (a Hong Kong-based freight forwarder), and Pacific Shipping Distribution (located in Singapore). These acquisitions included offices in Bangladesh, Beijing, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Shanghai, Singapore, and Sri Lanka. OIA also established a Chicago office to bolster its preexisting network

ISO Certifications

OIA achieved International Standard of Organization (“ISO”) certification.

1999

New Company Name and Logo

OIA introduced a new name and logo to better communicate the company's wide-ranging capabilities, with OIA Global Logistics (OIA) being introduced on 1 July 1999.

1996

Cargo Risk Management Program; New York Office Opens; Launched RF Warehouse

OIA launched a Cargo Risk Management program and opened a New York office. OIA also launched a fully automated global Radio Frequency (“RF”) distribution warehouse to deliver component parts to remote international manufacturers.

1994

NVOCC License

OIA was granted a Non Vessel Operating Common Carrier (“NVOCC”) license.

1993

Ocean Forwarding License

The U.S. Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) granted OIA with an ocean forwarding license.

1992

Customs House Brokerage License

OIA was granted a customs brokerage license from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

1991

New Offices: San Francisco and Miami

San Francisco and Miami offices were established, connecting critical markets in Asia and Latin America.

1989

New Office: Los Angeles

Los Angeles office opened after OIA reached a key agreement with Korean Airlines to ship beef overseas.

1988

Oregon International Air Freight was Incorporated in Portland, OR, USA

OIA was originally viewed as an expert in perishable shipping. The company grew quickly after reaching an agreement with a large northwest sportswear manufacturer to provide worldwide air express services for factory components.

    In 1993, OIA was granted a license to operate as a Customs House Broker (CHB) by U.S. Customs & Border Protection.
